We're out and about - recent news
Recently, we completed 3 training days with the charity Barnardos, working with their North and South Ayrshire teams. It was a tricky but incredibly rewarding piece of work as they support a diverse group of children and adults within our communities, supporting families of neurodivergent children, education and neurodivergent adults struggling with substance abuse or in the criminal justice system.

In November, Mark and I and our 2 Dobermans, Dexter and Dixie travelled up to Wick in the highlands to work with an amazing, family run charity called Encompass Caithness. During our time in Wick we delivered 3 sessions to 90 + professionals working in Education, Health and Social Care, Primary Care Mental Health teams, NHS staff and a Church of Scotland minister. We also had an emotional support doggy join us for the day.
The 3 sessions included elements of our 3 most popular seminars, Understanding Autism, Sensory Needs and Understanding anxiety and distressed behaviour.
We received amazing feedback from the sessions which is on the Encompass Caithness Facebook page and we even had an article written about the sessions in the John o 'Groat Journal

I attended the autism training delivered by Tanya, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I learned a lot about Autism Spectrum disorder, Tanya is just exceptional, her way to explain facts, her ability to communicate with the audience and also sharing her own experience made the training session very informative and enjoyable at the same time.
Well done Tanya.
The training, which spanned three days, was truly inspirational and exceptionally delivered by Tanya. She shared her own unique experiences and challenges, which added a personal and relatable element to the sessions. Her ability to connect with the audience through these stories was remarkable, making the material not only informative but deeply engaging. Tanya also provided a wealth of practical advice tailored to workers who support children with autism, ensuring the knowledge was actionable and relevant to real-world scenarios. Having attended numerous autism training sessions in the past, I can confidently say this was the most impactful and enlightening training I have ever experienced. I would highly recommend Tanya to anyone looking for high-quality, meaningful autism training.
Tanya ran a training session for myself and my colleagues which gave us a new perspective on Autism Spectrum Disorder. Tanya's training structure allowed us all to work through the material and then discuss and share our thoughts on what we were learning. This was very helpful as we work directly with children who are Autistic and through these discussions we were able to gain pragmatic skills to help us better care for those children. Tanya made the training very digestible and the discussions allowed us all to ask questions and make the most of the sessions. I would recommended these sessions for anyone who works, even indirectly, with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder or associated neurodivergent conditions. I am very grateful for the training and would love to do it again. Thank you.
Absolutely loved Tanya’s training. I have a son who’s undiagnosed and was never very good at dealing with his outburst and understanding why he was having them until doing this course!! I can now leave him to have his meltdown then talk to him after this which has made life so much easier! Thanks so much Tanya 💜
As a late diagnosed adult I was lucky enough to attend a compressed general training session. Listening to Tanya explain her struggles helped me understand some of my struggles.
Thank you Tanya for helping me see I'm not a weird emotional train wreck but someone who thinks and feels in my own unique way.
Tanya's sessions have been invaluable. I was offered these through the Accorn Centre and I'm so glad I attended. The sessions are so informative, insightful and helpful through Tanya's information and also the group too who were all lovely. I personally learned so many tips and I now feel so much more informed about my sons autism diagnosis, how to help understand his behaviours and needs better and how to advocate for him. The laid back nature of the sessions also makes it easy to ask questions and get help from Tanya and the group. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend to anyone with autism, with a child with autism or anyone, really, who would like to understand autism a bit more. Thank you so much Tanya.
I really enjoyed the training sessions with Tanya Tennant. She helped me understand so much about autistic behaviour and provided so many coping strategies to enable me as a parent carer to help my son navigate life.
Tanya is a brilliant autistic advocate, delivering the training with so much empathy and first hand knowledge and lived experience. Tanya is just really insightful, inclusive and incredibly reassuring and supportive. I have come away feeling so much more empowered as a carer. I have been on a few training courses in the 7 years since my son's diagnosis, however, every one was led by a neurotypical person, so it was much more credible and a lot more informative to learn from a person who is actually autistic.
Thank you Tanya, it was a real privilege to attend these training sessions & the follow up material is really helpful too.
Thoroughly enjoyed Tanyas training session which I attended through my childs school. The session was very relaxed which made me feel so comfortable. Tanya was full of invaluable information, I could have listened to her speak all day. Will eagerly keep my eyes open for further sessions to attend!
I recently attended Tanya's training session for autistic teens. It was very informative and it really helped to be able to relate to Tanya's personal situation and those of the others attending the session. Would definitely recommend Tanya
